RC Helicopter Simulators

RC Helicopter Simulators

Rc Helicopter

As with airplane simulators, RC helicopter flight simulators have come a long way. From weak graphics, they have evolved into programs you can immerse yourself in.

The remote control simulator software for helicopters is very similar to the airplane software, and in most cases is sold as a single package. In other cases, the helicopter simulations are sold as add on programs to the main software. The RC helicopter, like its real counterpart, is quite a bit different in its handling and flight characteristics from an RC airplane. If you are planning on flying RC helicopters, it is important to make sure that your selection is designed for them and not just for airplanes.

The basic difference in helicopter flight and airplane flight is in the taking off and landing. The helicopter does not need a runway, and its ability to move straight up and down as well as hover requires much less space for flight. This is one of the things that have made RC helicopters increasingly popular in the RC hobby field.

The top rated simulators for airplanes are also the best for helicopters. An example is the Great Planes RealFlight B3.5 simulator. This top of the line software program comes with an assortment of airplane and helicopter types. It also features a great many "add on" to increase the number and variety of models. Each add on gives you something like fourteen different planes and four or five new helicopter models from which to chose.

Some RC simulators are available online as downloads. One of the highest rated of this type is the Clearview RC Flight Simulator. Although you have to pay to download the software, this is a very advanced simulator. It is especially attractive to helicopter fans because although the program is for both planes and helicopters, it talks of its helicopter models first as if they are most proud of their variety there. The Clearview RC Simulator is designed to use a variety of controls. It is possible to control it via your keyboard. For advanced users, a handheld transmitter is used and attached to the PC with a USB cable.

The ability to simulate all types of conditions and flying areas and control the program with a transmitter similar to the actual one is the true advantage of RC simulation programs. It is a way to learn to fly your RC model in safety. It is the place to learn without risking your expensive models. There is a certain amount of risk involved in RC flight, but the trained operate can minimize this greatly.

RC Helicopter Guide

RC Helicopter Guide

Rc Helicopter

Radio controlled helicopters, or RC helicopters, are a type of model aircraft. These models come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and designs. Some are made to for speed while others are created for greater maneuverability. The aircraft is powered by small servo motor in the center and operated by a remote control and antenna device.

RC helicopters are popular flown by hobbyists for entertainment and recreation. Although they take some practice to master, they can eventually become very fun to fly. Aside from flying for fun, they are also use in remote inspection, filming, aerial photography, and even policing. Specialized aircrafts are usually quite expensive and can only be bought directly from the manufacturer.

Helicopters are more difficult to fly than planes because they require the user to control the balance and thrust at the same time. Just as a real-life pilot has to operate the yoke and pedals, and remote control pilot needs to use both controls simultaneously. Some helicopters are made easier to fly by automating some of the processes, but customers will still need to learn how to fly them.

A helicopter is a far more convenient aircraft to have around compared to a glider or a model jet. A glider requires constant wind to fly, so it is not conducive for areas that are windy. Model jets require a large amount of space for level flight, which is a luxury that some people do not have. Helicopters do not need any space for take-off and landing so they can be flown almost anywhere. Smaller version can even be flown indoors if you are careful not to hit the walls or ceiling.

The average model jet has a flight life of ten to fifteen minutes. RC helicopters are much slower, but they can last for well over half an hour. High speed helicopters are much faster, but their flight time is limited to the same as a model jet. Most engines are powered by a set of normal batteries that can be replaced at any supermarket. However, high end aircrafts may be powered by gasoline, diesel, or even nitrous oxide. Although these aircraft are very fast, they are fairly unpopular because of their premium cost. The most popular helicopters have lithium batteries that can last for thirty minutes. Once the battery life has been depleted, in can be recharged so the user does not have to buy new batteries each time.

IT WAS THE THIRD TIME FLYING IN THIS VIDEO! you can charge for 60-80 minutes for 13-14 minutes of flying time! in mean time you can fly with piccoz or do something else. I made this video for help, so u know what u buy and how to fly. and I made flight scene into the movie so you could look how stable it is! I really recommend this heli because it is excellent for beginners. I first had a reelly heli but that one is just broken. if i would replace parts i had this alloy shark twice -_-! Specification from the products book: -Dimentions: 37.5(LENGTH) x 8(WIDE) x 17.5(HIGHT) cms -Rechargeable 3.2v Li-Poly (mains adaptor included) !**! (some people said 7.4 volts,,, isn't true! check on google!) not that it really matters,,,, -_- -3 Channel remote (requires 4 x AA) -Intelligent RC system reduces interference from other RC users. !**! (absolutly right!!! my reelly helicopter, had same mhz length and was much disturbed, this one none!!!) -Energy saving power cut off !**!(if the heli doen't rise up in the air don't gas too long trough!! is bad for battery!) -Smooth hovering performance !**! ( my reelly heli just didn't hover at all) -1hour charge gives 15 minutes flying time. -Suitable for ages 14+

5 Types of Remote Control Helicopters

5 Types of Remote Control Helicopters

Rc Helicopter

If you are thinking of what particular remote control helicopter to buy, then this article should help.

Here are the different types:

Gas - If you are thinking of flying a helicopter that somehow close to flying a real helicopter, then the gas helicopter is for you. Made with an engine and powered by gas, this helicopter is the most advanced model to buy. It does not come cheap with engine and more complicated moving parts, they are for more advanced rc pilot.

Electric - Early electric versions released are expensive but later models are more affordable. This makes them more popular than any type of rc helicopters in the market. It is easy to fly. It creates no noise and smell not like the gas type. It is powered by a rechargeable battery is suitable for beginners.

Mini - Also powered by battery, this type is similar to the electric type. In fact, it is hard to define if the electric model falls on the category of a mini. But to be safe about it, you can say that it is mini if you can fly it on your living room without imposing danger on your furniture.

A Mini remote control helicopter is fun to fly although controlling it on air might be a little complicated at first. But once you get the hang of it, maneuvers and landings are easy. It is also far more affordable than the two mentioned types of rc helicopter.

Micro - If you have seen micro rc car, micro rc boat, and micro rc plane, then you should not be surprised if you see micro one. This tiny piece of aircraft can stretch up to 8 inches. But, you cannot consider it a toy. It has standard features similar to that of a standard model. It is so tiny that makes it look so delicate but in face, materials used such as titanium and carbon is strong.

Toy - If you want an affordable remote control helicopter, then this one is for you. Only remember that to fly this type of remote control helicopter requires a lot of practice.

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER Review

Availibility : Usually ships in 1-2 business days

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER Feature

  • Novel Design - Coaxial rotor blade on front and back - Double the stability and handling
  • Very Easy to control - Once you set the appropraite trimming position, don't have to take hands off control lever
  • Eight way directions, forward, backward, up, down, left, right, left front, right front
  • Made of Durable ABS plastic, can withstand certain magnitude of collision
  • Charge via AC/DC, each charging can last for 10-13 minutes of flight time - Controller only consumes 6 pcs of Aa Battery

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER Overview

Last year, Silverlit had brought to all RC fans a major shock with the introduction of their Tandem Z helicopter. A full 3 channels control makes it capable to go forward, left, right, slightly backward. However, a lot of customer were dissatisified with its quality, they said it is too easy to break, and they don't like the weird front and rear stabilizer attaching to the Tandem Z.This year Syma had finally introudced their own version of Tandem Z, built with the coaxial blade platform, it provides double the stability in compares to a Tandem Z, you don't need to trim the helicopter constantly to get it stable. And you can manually adjust the flying style. For example if you want the helicopter to lean more to the forward, you can press the button on the right shoulder a few times, it will make the Rear rotor Blade spins faster than the front rotor, making the helicopter tends to fly forward. And vice versa, if you want the helicopter to fly significantly backward. And you can also try the neutral flying mode, which is helicopter not leaning to either forward or backward, I personally like this the most, the easier mode to control.

Which RC Helicopter to Choose?

Which RC Helicopter to Choose?

Rc Helicopter

In this article, I will explain how to choose a remote control helicopter which is best suitable for your demands. When we think of remote control (RC) helicopters, we also think of various issues attached to it, like the spare parts, size, price, fuel and other cost which come along with them. Choosing the right helicopter isn't as hard as you might think it is, and if you plan carefully you can make the most out of your first remote control helicopter. How to choose the best remote control helicopter:

Check the size: Most of the people simply want to buy the most expensive helicopter which comes under their budget, thinking maybe this is the best and perhaps RC helicopters have different sizes, some are as small as your palm while others are as big as a real car. The best thing is to determine where would you be flying your RC helicopter? If you are going to sit inside your comfort zone and fly it in your house then you should always prefer the smaller one, and if you are going to go out and fly it then choosing the bigger is more logical.

Parts and Upgrades: Buying an RC helicopter is the easiest task, but maintaining it is not as easy as one might think. Most of the beginners tend to crash their RC helicopter in their first flight, they either crash land it or they accidentally hit it into some wall or tree. But that's okay, unless you can get their service parts handy. Always make sure there are enough service upgrades available from the manufacturer before buying an RC helicopter. Once you've crashed it, you wouldn't want to search all over the internet looking for little part from a long shut manufacturing company. Buying a remote control helicopter from a reputed brand like SYMA, SAN HUAN turns out to be better in a long term. You can upgrade parts, you can repair your fractured helicopter and you can do much more.

Commitment: Before making any decision always think of how committed you are going to be with your remote control helicopter, if you are planning to use it only few hours a week or maybe once in a while then you should prefer a helicopter which suits your need. Buying an expensive helicopter only to later find out that you aren't making the best of it would be rather disappointing. While, if you are looking forward to give your flying skills a lot of time then, by all source grab the expensive one right off the bat.

So, before you can finalize your remote control helicopter, remember to check for the size, look for the parts & upgrades and most importantly know how committed you are.

Test Flying For Fun - RC Aircraft and Helicopters

Test Flying For Fun - RC Aircraft and Helicopters

Rc Helicopter

Contrary to popular belief, people who work in model shops don't spend all day every day playing with their own models!!!

However on Friday afternoon Dale and myself decided we were going flying with our own models. We closed the shop dead on 6 o'clock (usually we don't leave till gone 7). We were cashed up, loaded up and off to our own secret flying site in Kent by 6.30.

We arrived at the flying field around 6.45, all models still intact after a mad dash along the A2 and some rather bendy country lanes.

First out of the cars were a pair of Weston Cougars, one of my favourite planks (sorry for the term plank but I class myself as a heli flyer). Once started and both airborne there was a really noticeable difference in performance between the two. Dale's is fitted with a OS46LA, whilst mine has a West Eurotech 36 fitted. We both decided to go for height, (when I say height I mean the clouds were getting in the way) Dale's climb rate was respectable but mine climbed like a homesick angel. After a few attempts at getting it to flatspin & some low inverted circuits I was out of fuel, so was forced to land and get the next model out.

The next candidate was a Century Predator Gasser which has had one previous flight. The beauty of petrol powered models is that they are cheap to run & there is no starting equipment required. The previous flight was used to set the model and engine up correctly. After a few tweaks to the engine I was happy with the way she was running I thought we would do a few gentle circuits with a couple of stall turns thrown in for good measure. I must say this is probably the most stable model in the hover I have ever flown. I landed, then passed the controls to Dale for a quick play. He also loved how stable it flew.

The amount of fun you can have with an electric Zagi is amazing. This model is so much fun and so unbreakable, I found myself doing the silliest of things with it. Like skimming across the strip with the prop clipping the grass on its way through, stalling it from up high and seeing who could get the highest bounce when it hit the deck!
Who cares, the chances of breaking it are near nil.

That's how is continued for the rest of the evening.... until we remembered that to fly in the dark - which i used to do on a regular basis - you need 'glow sticks'. ()

So, back to the shop to unload all the models - we both commented on what a great evening's flying it was, probably one of the best this year - we are not trying to tempt fate or anything, but are now charging everything in sight ready for another evening of fun.

One of the best things you can invest in is a fast charger - perfect for those last minute decisions to go flying, we have all put a lot of miles on my poor old ripmax fast charger.

Air Hogs Apache Helicopter And a Review of the Technology That Drives Radio Control - Toys Today

Air Hogs Apache Helicopter And a Review of the Technology That Drives Radio Control - Toys Today

Rc Helicopter

Air hogs apache helicopter uses new radio control technology. This new Air Hogs Apache helicopter is state of the art as far as the technology is concerned. Authenticity is underwritten by the fact it is issued under license with Boeing. Don't worry about assembly though. The unit comes fully built and consists of a 4 way controller. The heli is ok for 8 years upwards but you are not allowed to fly it outdoors.

You controller unit has a dual purpose. It controls the helicopter in flight but also charges it up when required. Your average flight time is 15 to 20 mins and it would cost plenty if the batteries were not rechargeable. There is a spare propeller with the unit is case of damage.

At the beginning of the 21st century a new transmission wavelength was used for radio control in toys. This had the advantage of allowing smaller aerials and far less power consumption. What you do need to be careful about though. is that the line of site between your transmitter and the heli is always maintained. Otherwise the unit needs to reboot and this could be in the middle of a flight... not too good and idea.

An overall view of the radio control technology is that there are 2 basic elements. You have the helicopter which is the receiver and the controller which is the transmitter issuing instructions to it.

Speed controllers have developed in our ever changing world. Now electric units have replaced the older resistor, which was not an efficient unit. We now enjoy a steering wheel on our controllers and  switch for fast or slow throttle. All types of toys now enjoy this new technology and children can play with cars or helicopters and use the new devices very safely. Hobby people can buy units that allow modular upgrading to give them more control and features of their units.

It is now accepted practice to swap modules between different devices. So you can take unit from a car and add it to a model boat, for example. But do watch out for your local laws which often do not allow the same frequency for air and land devices. Simplification has now arrived by way of crystals that you plug into your control unit. These allow you to control many channels at once within 1 band.

How Do RC Helicopters Fly?

How Do RC Helicopters Fly?

Rc Helicopter

RC helicopters have been proven to be one of the toughest, yet most enjoyable, radio-controlled vehicles to own and operate. It takes a lot of time and skill to be able to master what some consider the art of flying an RC helicopter. If you're new to the whole radio-controlled helicopter craze that's growing by leaps and bounds on a daily basis, this article will give you a basic understanding of how RC helicopters fly and how they work.

How Do Radio Controlled Helicopters Work?

You may not know this by looking at them, but an RC helicopter is a pretty complicated toy to play with. On top of having many moving parts to operate, a radio-controlled helicopter is made even more complicated by having a radio transmitter and radio receiver thrown into the mix. Actually, the transmitter and receiver are very important for flying an RC helicopter because they send and receive the radio signals that tell the helicopter what to do.

The transmitter is the hand-held device that you use to tell the RC helicopter what you want it to do. The receiver is the device that receives the radio signal inside the RC helicopter and passes it on to the rest of the electronics of the helicopter so that it can perform as its been instructed to do.

It's very important that you have a fully charged transmitter and receiver when you take your RC helicopter out for a flight. If one or the other dies while you're trying to pilot, you're looking at an expensive, so always be sure they're both fully charged when you take them out.

How Do RC Helicopters Fly?

The same principles that allow full-size military helicopters to fly also allows RC helicopters to fly as well. The two main components that allow an RC helicopter to fly are the main rotor and the tail rotor.

The main rotor is the large blade that sits on top of the helicopter. This is the rotor that provides the power associated with lift off and flight. The main rotor usually spins at a constant speed and induces lift by changing the pitch or angle of attack of the blades. The greater the pitch is, the more lift the rotors will provide.

As the main rotor spins, it puts a twisting force on the rest of the helicopter and that's where the tail rotor steps in to help out. Basically, the tail rotor helps to counteract the spinning force of the main rotor and helps keep the helicopter straight. The tail rotor is like a rudder on a ship: it goes the opposite direction so that the helicopter can be steered. The tail rotor is connected to the main rotor through a belt or torque tube and in most cases the tail rotor will spin 3-6 times for each time that the main rotor spins.

It's also important to know that when you're learning to fly an RC helicopter that you learn to fly with the nose of the helicopter and not the tail. Many amateurs get distracted by what the tail is doing and don't realize that the helicopter is going to fly wherever the nose is pointing, even if it's pointing right at a building or a person! So always know what's going on with the nose of the helicopter so that you're in complete control of piloting it.

Helicopter Pilot Licenses - How to Complete Your Helicopter Pilot Training and Get a Job

Helicopter Pilot Licenses - How to Complete Your Helicopter Pilot Training and Get a Job

Rc Helicopter

No matter where you currently live, you will need to gain some type of licensing before you begin to fly any kind of helicopter. There are a few different kinds of licenses that can be obtained, and each of these licenses is uniquely differently from the last. To find out what kind of license you should gain, take a look at these helicopter pilot licenses.

If you wish to fly a helicopter on a private basis only should seek a PPL-H license (Private Pilot Licence - Helicopter). This license will not allow you to fly commercial helicopters, but it will allow you to fly a helicopter for your own private use.

Contrastingly, the CPL-H (Commercial Pilot Licence - Helicopter) will allow you to fly a helicopter commercially. This includes using a helicopter for sight-seeing tours or photographic flights. You cannot fly a helicopter in any commercial manner with a PPL-H license. In order to gain a CPL-H license, you will first have to successfully complete the PPL-H license training.

If you want to work for an airline, then you will have to gain an ATPL-H (Airport Transport Pilot Licence). This license will allow you to work for any airline transporting people and cargo. Often, this license is harder to obtain, but it is one license that will allow you to work full-time as a helicopter pilot.

Lastly, the IFR rating license is a bit different from all the other licenses mentioned above. The Instrument Flight Rules license is necessary if you wish to fly a helicopter under any kind of weather condition. If you want to fly at night, when visibility is reduced, or using only instruments to fly, then you must have an IFR license. This is an important license to gain if you want to become indispensible to a commercial or cargo company.

Keep in mind that you can only fly the type of helicopter that you train with. Thus, if you want to fly a large or small helicopter, look for a flight school that will provide the right kind of training. If you wish to fly a different kind of helicopter, then you will have to gain specific training for each additional helicopter that you want to fly.

Since flight regulations are set by each country, the country that you live in may have specific licensing rules. However, most countries around the world offer the same licenses as those listed above, and many of the training programs are similar. To find out where you can obtain the kind of license that you need, contact a flight school in your area.

If you can't find what you are looking for, then consider international flight schools. You may find that some schools in your area do not offer the kind of licensing that you desire, though many schools will accept boarding students, so you can apply to any school that you find. Becoming a helicopter pilot can be a rewarding career if you have the right kind of license.

Apache Helicopter

Apache Helicopter

Rc Helicopter

The Apache Helicopter is the most marvelous flying machine to have graced the skies. It is unparalleled in both offensive and defensive capabilities and armed with mobility that makes it the ace of the skies. It was created to empower the US Army in times when the need for military power arises. It is the first to stray away from traditional helicopters which focused more on mobility. It was the first to pack so much fire power that it was often called the flying tank. Its armaments could pierce through almost any armor and were very lethal to ground units. It also possesses the sturdiness of a tank making bringing it down a very difficult task. It was a flying machine capable of immense destruction.

The Apache Helicopter carries the name of the fiercest and most skillful Native American tribe in the history of the United Sates. The name was perfect for until today the monstrous aircraft is still considered as the most powerful and devastating copter the world has ever seen. Offense is the greatest asset of this airborne monster. It greatly excels on both annihilating hostile units on the ground and completing seek-and-destroy missions targeting other aircrafts. It has a cockpit located in the front part to hold the gunner, enabling it to aim easily and accurately for any target. The pilot on the other had operates on a separate cockpit located behind that of the gunner.

The defensive capabilities of the Apache Helicopter are also unmatched. The gunner can easily transfer to the rear cockpit in case the pilot gets incapacitated and the pilot on the other hand can put the machine on auto pilot and transfer to the front cockpit to take charge of gunning the enemies. The revolutionary flying device also utilizes two strong engines with each engine capable of supporting the machine alone. The entire copter is also armor plated to stay robust against all forms of gunfire.

Mobility is another edge of the Apache Helicopter. It is equipped with very advance sensors that can scope out any nearby enemies even those that can remain invisible from sight and normal radar. It can also remain fully functional even in the harshest of conditions such as sandstorms and strong typhoons. Its system is equipped with advanced computer technology that allows it to excel even in most dire situations. Research and development is still going on to ensure that this aerial ace will continue to dominate and protect the skies of the country they serve.

RC Toys

RC Toys

Rc Helicopter

The term "RC toys" may stand for either "remote-controlled toys" or "radio-controlled toys", and encompass a variety of remotely operated vehicles. They are often cars, airplanes, helicopters, boats, or even submarines, and can be fun for people of all ages. Most RC toys are wireless, and utilize joysticks and buttons to control their movements via transmitters and receivers.

RC toys can trace their beginnings to the inventor Nikola Tesla, who in 1898 demonstrated his remote-controlled boat that operated using radio waves. This technology was initially used for military purposes, but by the 1950s remote-controlled airplanes were available on the toy market, although they were bulky and their range was short.

The first RC cars became popular during the 1960s; these were initially gas-powered vehicles with 2-stroke engines, and various companies began mass-producing 1/8th scale RC car models in the 1970s. By 1974, electric-powered cars emerged, and they would soon feature direct drive transmissions.

RC toys in the 1970s became more reliable, featuring upgraded controls and other options, while airplanes became lighter and faster. The first RC helicopter had been successfully flown in 1968, and model helicopter kits appeared in stores by 1972, proving to be an interesting flying challenge.

By the 1980s, RC cars appeared for off-road use, and much faster models running on nitro were also introduced. This has since led to various racing tournaments and other competitive events around the world for RC cars, as well as other RC vehicles. Since the 1980s, aquatic RC vehicles have also expanded to include submarines and hovercraft, and with submarines comes the challenge of making a successful dive and safely resurfacing.

Beginner RC Planes - Gas Or Electric For The Beginner

Beginner RC Planes - Gas Or Electric For The Beginner

Rc Helicopter

When starting out in the world of rc planes one of the decisions you need to make is what kind of plane to get. Besides what model of plane is going to be the best for a beginner we need to look at whether that model should be gas or electric powered.

For me there is no question that a beginner rc pilot should start out with an electric plane and here is why:

1. Price. Electric planes are far cheaper than gas planes. Just the motor for a gas plane can cost more than an electric plane. Then you still need the transmitter, servos, batteries, etc.

2. What's in the box. Most beginner electric planes come with everything you need to get started flying. Plane, transmitter and batteries. Nearly all gas planes are in kit form. You have to build the plane and purchase all the parts separately. This is why they are so much more expensive.

3. You don't have to build it. Most electric planes are made from Styrofoam or plastic and come fully assembled or need almost no assembly. You can be ready to fly just about as soon as the battery is done charging. Gas planes are almost made up exclusively of wood and need full assembly.

4. Ease of use. An electric motor is far easier to use than a gas one. You turn on the power and that's it. Gas powered motors require you to add the fuel and tune the motor before you can fly. It's a lot more work.

5. Emotional involvement. Why do I say that you might ask? We get more emotionally involved with something we have made ourselves versus something we purchased already made. Believe it or not many beginner pilots who have started with a plane they assembled themselves are reluctant to fly it. As a beginner pilot you are going to crash your first plane and no one wants to destroy something they have spent so much time building.

Electric planes are the way to go for a beginner rc pilot. Price, ease of use, and what you get in the box make it much easier and cheaper for a beginner to get started in the world of rc planes. Good luck and happy flying.
